Title: Affordable cooling using desiccant technologies

低成本节能的干燥降温技术 

Abstract:

Affordable cooling is becoming important in the maintenance of the quality of life for a large fraction of the world’s population. Conventional vapor compression air conditioning systems make up the vast majority of installations worldwide, which consume a significant amount of electrical energy, and generate a substantial proportion of global greenhouse gas emissions. This presentation will introduce the recent research carried out at the University of Wollongong on the development of energy efficient desiccant cooling systems for improved building performance, working productivity and wellbeing of building occupants.

Dr Zhenjun Ma is a Senior Lecturer at the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre, University of Wollongong, Australia and the Discipline Leader in Built Environment and Design. He is a member of Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) and is a committee member of Special Technical Group of Big Data & Analytics and Special Technical Group of Solar Cooling, AIRAH. His major research interest is on building control optimization, desiccant cooling, building integrated renewable energy technologies and thermal energy storage using phase change materials. He has edited one special issue, published one book chapter, over 80 journal articles and 40 conference publications, with an h-index of 19 and total citation of 1450 (Scopus). Three of his publications were ranked as highly cited papers in Thomson Reuters as of November 2017.
