The theme of this symposium is "Development of Marine Resources and Marine Engineering Geology", which aims to further promote the exchange and cooperation of domestic and foreign experts on the theory and technology of marine engineering geology. The conference invited ten experts to give a special report on symposium: Professor David White, academicians from the Australian Academy of Engineering, University of Western Australia, University of Southampton, United Kingdom; Professor Wang Lizhong, winner of National Outstanding Youth Fund, Vice President of Zhejiang University; Professor Jia Yonggang, Ocean University of China etc. Professor Hu Yuxia from University of Western Australia, Australia, Professor Weichang Fu from Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Senior Engineer Yang Shaoli, Norwegian Institute of Geotechnical Engineering gave keynote speeches. There are also 80 delegates gave academic reports. Nearly 300 representatives from more than 70 universities, research institutes and enterprises from 11 countries including Australia, the United States, Norway, the United Kingdom and China participated in the meeting. Participants conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on 7 themes: nature of marine soil engineering, marine geological disasters and engineering protection, in-situ survey of marine engineering geology, monitoring and test simulation, hydrodynamic environment and role of marine resource development, seabed Sediment and gas hydrate mining, structural foundation of ocean engineering, current-structure-seabed interaction. Two international SCI journals, "Journal of Marine Science and Engineering" and "Environmental Geotechnics", will publish special issues for this symposium under the themes of "New Advances in Marine Engineering Geology" and "Marine Geotechnics".
