The China-UK-Philippines Offshore Energy Engineering Cooperation Seminar and the Signing Ceremony of the Joint Master Degree Program Successfully Held

From May 23 to 24, 2023, the China-UK-Philippines Offshore Energy Engineering Cooperation Seminar and the signing ceremony for the cooperation between Dalian University of Technology, University of Exeter and De La Salle University were held in Manila, Philippines. Professor Lars Johanning, Vice Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Exeter, Professor Xiaohong Li, Global Development Director of the Renewable Energy Discipline, Professor Helen Smith, Director of the Teaching Department of the Renewable Energy Discipline, Professor Kathleen Aviso, Dean of the School of Engineering at De La Salle University in the Philippines, Professor Alvin Culaba, Vice President of De La Salle University, Dr. Laurene Chua-Garcia, Vice President of De La Salle University, and relevant staffs from the Philippines attended the meeting. Professor Ning Dezhi, Deputy dean of Faculty of Infrastructure Engineering, Associate Professor Cui Yao, Deputy dean of the International Office, and Foreign Affairs Secretary of the Faculty of Infrastructure Engineering, Liu Yuntong, attended the meeting.


At the seminar, the representatives from the three sides delivered welcoming speeches. Professor Lars Johanning, as a representative, reviewed the "UK-China-BRI Countries Education Partnership Initiative" project. The "UK-China-BRI Countries Education Partnership Initiative" is the first tripartite cooperation project between China and European countries under the "the Belt and Road" framework, and also an innovative initiative of China-UK joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" initiative in the field of education.

This seminar is the fourth offline exchange and seminar between China, the UK, and the Philippines, aimed at continuing to recommend joint graduate degree programs, conducting in-depth research and educational cooperation in the field of marine renewable energy, enhancing academic exchange and student mobility, and utilizing research and teaching advantages to cultivate and educate the next generation of international marine energy engineers.

The successful holding of this seminar has played a good leading and promoting role in the implementation and promotion of cooperation and exchange in China-UK-Philippines offshore energy engineering and innovation, and has played a positive role in the disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and scientific research cooperation of the universities in the field of offshore energy.
